This was featured on the front page of the Laurel Independent, a local newspaper. I wrote this for an internship and I really enjoyed the interviewing process.  I actually got to go to a curling club meeting and it was an incredible experience. I learned a lot about the sport and talked to a lot of interesting people. Looking back on it, there are a few things I wish I did differently or would adjust now, but I'm glad it was my first big published piece.

Here are a few more articles I wrote for my internship:

I loved working on this piece as I played field hockey in high school and have always had a passion for the sport.
I sent a direct message to one of my favorite influencers in the hopes of interviewing her for an article, I was shocked when she replied and was able to talk with her about her gym routine and daily schedule over a 30 minute phone call. This was one of my first big interviews as a freshman and one I will always remember.
Class Pieces (not published)
This was for my final project in one of my journalism classes. I'll admit I was nervous about how this piece would turnout. I was unsure if it would come together, but I was able to get the interviews I needed and made it work. I put a lot of effort into this story and in the end I'm really proud of how it turned out, even if it was just for class.
I got the idea for this piece working on the crime story I linked below. I followed up with the artist and went to her studio for an interview. I was inspired by her pieces and the statements she made with her artwork. I was really happy I was able to explore her work and background.
